Pay
- Untrained (Lane 5): $15.61/hour
- Trained (Lane 6): $16.62/hour (employees may complete in-district training to qualify for Lane 6)
Responsibilities
- Works cooperatively with teachers, related servers, volunteers, and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address individual student needs.
- Facilitates preschool students' learning in areas such as pre-academics, art, science, music, dramatic play, and movement activities to improve academic success and transition to elementary school.
- Manages student behavior under teacher supervision to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitors individuals and groups of preschool students in various settings (e.g., snack time, games, playground, loading/unloading buses) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Actively engages with students in activities to model appropriate participation and behavioral expectations.
- Assists the teacher in assessing student progress toward objectives, expectations, and goals.
- Assists preschool-aged children with daily living skills (e.g., diapering, toilet training, feeding) to address personal care needs.
- Models conversation, manners, clean-up activities, and listening skills to demonstrate appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work areas, and manual/electronic files to ensure availability of items and a safe learning environment.
- Participates in meetings to convey and gather information required for job functions.
- Responds to inquiries from students, co-workers, and administrators to resolve issues or provide direction.
- Transfers children directly to/from parents or designees to ensure safety and meet district requirements.
- Responds to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Administers first aid and dispenses medications to meet immediate healthcare needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- Age 16 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
