About the Role

Lehi High School is seeking a dedicated Hall Monitor to support student success by encouraging timely and consistent classroom attendance. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe and orderly campus environment.

This is a physically active role that requires a consistent presence throughout the school day, including walking and standing for extended periods, as well as navigating stairs frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor hallways during class time and instructional periods to ensure students are in class.
  • Supervise common areas before and after school, during lunch, and at assemblies.
  • Promote a positive school climate by building respectful relationships with students.
  • Maintain visibility throughout the campus, including walking and taking stairs frequently.
  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and IEP goals.
  • Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional (e.g., medication, tube feeding, colostomy bags).
  • Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers in the classroom.
  • Assist with data collection under the direction of the assigned teacher to monitor student progress.
  • Assist students with self-care activities (e.g., toileting, washing, changing diapers, eating, dressing, grooming).
  • Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments (e.g., reading stories, listening to students read, providing writing assistance, reinforcing English lessons, facilitating activities, computer learning programs).
  • Attend job-specific trainings and meetings (e.g., first aid, behavior management).
  • Communicate with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel to assist in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP and/or 504 objectives.
  • Demonstrate appropriate role modeling (e.g., conversation, manners, emotional support, listening skills, friendly and engaging attitudes).
  • Implement, under the supervision of assigned teacher, behavioral plans identified in student IEPs.
  • Maintain instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records, classroom equipment, and work area.
  • Monitor students during assigned periods in various school environments (e.g., restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots).
  • Perform clerical duties (e.g., screening phone calls, distributing materials, maintaining inventories, processing documents).
  • Provide, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in individual and group activities (e.g., academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills).
  • Report observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions).
  • Supervise and escort students to/from classes to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.

Requirements

  • Age 16 or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, proactive, and comfortable working with high school-aged students.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, including navigating stairs.

Pay

Hourly rate:

  • Untrained (Lane 5): $15.61
  • Trained (Lane 6): $16.62 (Employee will have the option to complete an in-district training to qualify for Lane 6).

Schedule

29 hours per week, non-contract, no benefits.
