Instructional Para Educator - High Plains Elementary School

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Aid classroom teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, and other administrative tasks as needed.
• Support students by assisting with classroom activities, curriculum delivery, and reinforcing learning skills.
• Maintain discipline and monitor students during various activities, ensuring appropriate behavior.
• Perform basic clerical duties such as typing, filing, data entry, and maintaining classroom supplies.
• Participate in classroom events like field trips and fire drills as required.
• Assist with other duties as assigned or requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• No professional work experience required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• Title I assignments must meet one of the following requirements:
• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education;
• Obtained an associate’s or higher degree;
• Met a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing: Reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics; or Reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Lights work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds).
• Works indoors and outdoors.
• Subject to frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing.
• Normal school district environment.
