About the role

The Instructional Lead assists with the overall quality of instruction provided by classroom teachers. Responsibilities include formal and informal classroom observations and feedback, model lessons, support with lesson planning, assistance with instructional platforms, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of grade level and content standards
  • Ensure conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities
  • Conducts research and aids in the implementation of curriculum resources that meet state standards
  • Supports the instructional development of all teachers
  • Supports teachers with utilization of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment documents including curriculum map and scope and sequence documents
  • Collaborates with assistant principal and district instructional teams to develop, plan, and facilitate professional learning communities and trainings
  • Uses data for planning and facilitating grade band data analysis professional learning communities
  • Supports and monitors instructional use of platforms (Canvas, Jigsaw, Illuminate, and curriculum/supplemental platforms)
  • Builds Canvas course(s) using the blueprint
  • Sets up and monitors Canvas calendar set up
  • Ensures compliance of weekly lesson plan submission
  • Reviews the completion of lesson plans and provides constructive feedback
  • Conducts teacher evaluations and observations per state requirements using the TKES platform
  • Evaluates instructional delivery and provides timely feedback
  • Collaborates and syncs instructional delivery visits with instructional team
  • Attends instructional planning and observation debriefing sessions with Curriculum Coordinator and/or instructional team
  • Reviews interim assessments (district benchmarks) and provides instructional feedback to Curriculum Coordinator
  • Attends district focus walks
  • Monitor execution of data action plans and provides timely feedback
  • Liaison instructional requests and distribution (materials, platforms, supplies) to Curriculum Coordinator
  • Supports local education agency (LEA) by attending meetings and completing required expectations
  • Conducts weekly open offices to support grade band content team
  • Covers instructional class periods in absence of teacher, as needed
  • Supports grade level chairs with module content creation updates (verify content, due dates, structure, etc)
  • Supports substitute teachers
  • Attends trainings for curriculum and instruction resources
  • Supports teachers with completion of tasks such as testing preparation
  • Facilitates one-on-one meetings with teachers
  • Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs
  • Aids in the development and oversees implementation of the school's student achievement plan and works with the academic team to implement the plan
  • Aids in parent and student concerns and issues relative to curriculum and instruction
  • Aids in the coordinating and implementing of school meetings
  • Works collaboratively with other administrators and the curriculum team to ensure quality instruction and improved student achievement
  • Facilitates trainings and conversations about student growth data and progress towards academic achievement (i.e. Data meetings & Professional Learning Communities)
  • Aids in the review and interview process of potential candidates
  • Attends all required training by the Georgia Department of Education and GCA
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal and/or Principal
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Director, K-12 Curriculum & Instructional Programs Assistant Director, and/or Superintendent

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, ELA, or related field of study
  • Three (3) years' leadership experience
  • Three (3) years' virtual teaching experience, earning a "Meets" or "Exceeds" expectations in all categories at each year-end review OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certificates and licenses desired: Advanced Degree in Education, ELA, or related field of study desired, TKES credentialed GA PSC Educational Certificate for Secondary Grades in Math, ELA, SCI, and/or SS (6-12), Leadership Endorsement, Certificate, or Degree, Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required
