About the role
Columbia State Community College is seeking an innovative Instructional Designer to support faculty and staff in enhancing teaching and learning through technology.
Responsibilities
- Conducts training sessions for faculty and staff to enhance technology skills and seamlessly integrate technology into instruction and productivity.
- Provides training and support on the current management system for delivering online, hybrid, and web-enhanced instruction.
- Affords training and support on the current management system for delivering online, hybrid, and web-enhanced instruction.
- Assists faculty in analyzing curriculum, course objectives, learning outcomes and instructional needs and developing web, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.
- Researches, evaluates, and guides implementation of best practices for general education and discipline-specific pedagogies.
- Maintains current knowledge of Federal, State and Accreditation regulations, FERPA, copyright law/fair use, and guidelines relating to Distance Education.
- Affords training and support on the current management system for delivering online, hybrid, and web-enhanced instruction.
- Affords training and support on the current management system for delivering online, hybrid, and web-enhanced instruction.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to systematically develop technology-driven instructional materials and learning resources.
- Guides faculty on creating ADA-compliant web and hybrid course content using the course management system.
- Designs and maintains course templates in the course management system for newly developed courses.
- Serves as co-administrator for the course management system.
- Serves as the D2L technical liaison, facilitating communication and support between faculty and technical support teams.
- Creates blank semester course shells for each semester course in course management system.
- Imports semester course content for web and hybrid courses as well as courses with required templates.
- Provides day-to-day support for faculty and courses using the course management system.
- Serves as co-administrator for the course streaming web content server (Panopto).
- Serves as the D2L technical liaison, facilitating communication and support between faculty and technical support teams.
- Supports development, oversight of programs and services that result in enrollment, progression, retention and graduation growth for the service area.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in instructional design or teaching.
- Experience with learning management systems and educational technology tools.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and online learning best practices.
- Experience in maintenance, repair, and installation of PC's and software.
- Experience working with local area networks and wide area networks.
- Experience in the administration of Windows networks.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to learn and stay abreast of current / upcoming classroom technologies.
- Knowledge of technology and software including Microsoft Office Suite, Desire2Learn course management system.
- Knowledge of web page layout, image editing, multimedia equipment and software.
- Knowledge of computer equipment and peripherals.
- Decision-making and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Must be able to work with diverse faculty, student, and community members.
- Must be able to function effectively as a team member.
