Instructional Design Manager, Semi Service
What To Expect
The Tesla Semi Service Training Team is looking for an experienced and driven Instructional Design Manager to lead the development of high-quality training content that supports our mission of accelerating the world's transition to renewable energy. In this role, you will manage a team of Instructional Designers, set strategic direction for content development, drive accountability to timelines and quality standards, and foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Instructional Designers, setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular 1:1s, and creating individual development plans
Manage workload distribution across simultaneous training development projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
Oversee the design and development of engaging training content across instructor-led, online, and webinar formats with measurable learning outcomes
Review and approve team content, maintaining high standards for accuracy, clarity, and instructional quality
Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders across Semi Service to identify training needs and develop solutions that close skill and knowledge gaps
Serve as a liaison between technical and creative teams to ensure training content is both accurate and engaging
Recommend tools, design approaches, and industry best practices that improve learning effectiveness and align training strategy with Tesla's organizational priorities
What You'll Bring
6+ years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, or a related field, with at least 2+ years in a people management or team lead role
Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Education, a technical field, or equivalent experience
Proven track record of overseeing the development of high-quality eLearning products, web-based training, technical writing, and standard guides
Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of learning modalities and instructional approaches
Proficiency with design tools including MS PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Captivate, and Articulate Storyline
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strategic mindset and collaborative leadership style with the ability to translate organizational priorities into effective learning solutions

Expected Compensation
The expected compensation for this position is $96,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
