Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Instructional Leadership and Coaching
- Serves as a district-wide instructional leader in the area of social studies education.
- Observes and coaches teachers, providing constructive feedback on the effective facilitation of learning, inclusive of planning, assessment, rigor, and student engagement.
- Visits classrooms to provide direct assistance to teachers in improving existing strengths and overcoming obstacles to student achievement.
- Maintains a first-hand role in instructional coaching to foster a collaborative and supportive growth environment.
- Aids teachers with instructional challenges and acts as a specialized resource person for curriculum and pedagogical questions.
- Supports the orientation and mentorship of novice teachers to enhance their instructional skills.
- Support For The Director Of Humanities
- Collaborates with the Director of Humanities to support district goals, school goals, and curriculum objectives.
- Leverages Lead Teachers to reach maximum implementation of district-approved curricular guides.
- Synthesizes social studies achievement reports to provide the Director with comprehensive reviews and presentations regarding student progress.
- Curriculum Development And Coordination
- Supports the Director in authoring, updating, and furnishing rigorous curriculum guides, units of study, and technological resources.
- Collaborates with the Supervisors of Multilingual Learners, and Special Education to ensure curriculum and resources are tailored for all learners.
- Affords assistance in the evaluation, selection, and inventory control of textbooks, technology, and other instructional materials.
- Professional Learning And Data Analysis
- Plans and facilitates high-quality professional learning opportunities and in-service programs in accordance with the district professional development plan.
- Works with instructional staff to identify program strengths and weaknesses through the analysis of district-wide testing data.
- Supports the development of social studies diagnostics, interim assessments, and district-wide exams.
- Develops and monitors strategies for high-level collaboration among faculty and staff.
- Author, update, and furnish rigorous curriculum guides, units of study, and technological resources.
- Collaborate with the Supervisors of Multilingual Learners, and Special Education to ensure curriculum and resources are tailored for all learners.
- Evaluate, select, and inventory control of textbooks, technology, and other instructional materials.
- Evaluated annually by the Director of Humanities.
