About the role

The Kearsley Community Schools (KCS) is seeking a K-12 Instruction Coach to join the team starting the week of August 10, 2026. Multiple new staff member orientation dates are scheduled in August prior to the first official reporting day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to new educators in designing and implementing high-quality, student-centered lessons.
  • Work with new educators to support best practices in using data and implementing high-quality instruction.
  • Assume coaching responsibility using various methods such as modeling, co-teaching, and real-time feedback.
  • Implement ongoing professional development experiences to build educators' capacity for delivering high-impact instruction.
  • Support educators in implementing the district curriculum scope and sequence, assessments, and instructional models.
  • Plan for vertical alignment and connections between teachers at different grade levels across the district.
  • Aid in the design and implementation of professional development for K-12 instructional staff and attend meetings to collaborate around teacher professional development needs.
  • Stay current on evidence-based coaching practices and high-impact instructional models by participating in self-initiated professional learning, assigned trainings, and professional development for coaching and instruction.
  • Attend School Leadership, District Continuous Improvement (DCI), and Coach staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to instructional coaching and professional development programming.

Requirements

  • Possess a Master's Degree from an accredited university and a Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Be a highly effective classroom educator with experience in teaching, coaching, and leading adults.
  • Have been trained in and have experience using the Impact Cycle, Student-Centered Coaching, Cognitive Coaching, and/or Adaptive Schools.
  • Show excellent ability to relate to students, teachers, and administrators.
  • Show a deep understanding of standards-based teaching and learning and high-impact instructional strategies (aligned with the 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning).
  • Show eagerness to participate in professional development activities as both a learner and a presenter.
  • Show willingness to work beyond traditional hours and calendar.
  • Show outstanding skills in problem-solving, communication, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Show outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask and follow through with commitments in a timely manner.

Benefits

The Kearsley Board of Education will offer the successful candidate an annual salary commensurate with their skills and experience, as outlined in the KEA Master Agreement. Additionally, the MESSA fringe benefit package will be provided.

Pay

The annual salary for this position will be determined according to the KEA Master Agreement and will be commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.

Schedule

The start date for this position will be the week of August 10, 2026.
