Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists teachers in creating classroom environments that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students by observing classroom instruction and providing feedback;
- Demonstrates lessons for teachers;
- Conducts small and large group trainings;
- Act as a 'coach' in providing assistance.
Supports Teachers
- Develops and demonstrates lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences;
- Supports teachers in guiding the learning process toward the achievement of state and local curriculum goals;
- Assists teachers in establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and in communicating these objectives to the students;
- Makes sure classroom set-up and teacher/child interactions are monitored through the Classroom Assessment Scoring System;
- Aids in the appropriate assessment of children's development and accomplishments and assists in the referral process.
Knowledge and Skills
- Keeps current with latest research on best practices in early childhood education and uses knowledge to develop materials, policies and training materials for teachers and other staff;
- Provides staff development, conducts staff meetings, and serves on staff committees as requested;
- Communicates effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the agency;
- Provides recommendations to the Senior Child Development Services Coordinator on the purchase of necessary classroom materials and supplies.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field required;
- A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.
