QUALIFICATIONS:
- Command of the English language
- Knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations
- Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions independently
- Ability to understand and relate to the needs of high school students
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and take effective actions
- Ability to supervise students in various situations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist physically handicapped students in feeding and toileting needs
- Supervise students to maintain an effective learning environment
- Note behavioral problems observed
- Organize learning and instructional environments
- Set up materials for daily activities and maintain classroom/instructional areas
- Administer and correct daily assignments, homework, etc.
- Develop lesson plans and goals for each student according to curriculum and program requirements
- Confer with teachers regarding students' progress and problem areas
- Implement learning situations including individualized instruction and creating learning centers
- Monitor loading/unloading of students on/off buses
- Perform related duties as required
A PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Completion of the twelfth grade, preferably supplemented by college level courses
- This position may require speaking, reading, and writing a specified foreign language
- The ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the required duties
- The ability to perform toileting procedures with special training
CERTIFICATION OF PROFICIENCY IN THE AREAS OF BASIC READING, WRITING AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
- In lieu of certification of district proficiency in the areas of basic reading, writing and mathematical skills, one of the following may be submitted:
- Diploma from a regionally accredited California high school after January 1, 1981 (GED does not fulfill the proficiency requirement)
- Proof of successful completion of the CBEST test
- Possession of a valid California teaching credential
DUTIES OF POSITION:
- To assist a certificated teacher(s) in the instruction, supervision, and training of individual or groups of students
- To perform a variety of instructional support and student care activities
- To perform a variety of related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning environment
- To receive direct to general supervision from a certificated teacher(s) and/or school site administrator within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures
- To assist physically handicapped students in toileting and feeding needs
STARTING SALARY: $2,701.01 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 9.4 (to begin August 12, 2026)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 7 (daily working hours 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
