About the role
Provides support and assists in coordinating instructional programs relating to special education students and their Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Maintains an environment conducive to learning.
Responsibilities
- Makes sure the classroom is a safe and healthy place for all students.
- Aids teachers in planning and organizing lessons, ensuring materials are ready for each lesson.
- Supports teachers in implementing students' behavioral intervention plans.
- Assists in the use of assistive technology and augmentative communication devices in the classroom.
- Compiles and maintains confidential records and reports.
- Participates in staff development and professional growth.
- Coordinates and assists with student transitions between classes.
- Provides support for students with special health care needs, including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and adaptive equipment needs.
- Applies CPI skills to assist students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- For Title I schools: Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education, or two years of work experience in an early childhood setting.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and successful instructional delivery methods.

Schedule
Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends)
Workday must not exceed more than 40 hours per week and begins at least 30 minutes prior to the instructional day for students.
