About the role
This position provides support and assists in coordinating instructional programs relating to special education students and their Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Maintains an environment conducive to learning.
Responsibilities
- Makes sure the classroom is a safe and healthy place for all students.
- Aids teachers in planning and organizing lessons, evaluating instructional activities, and preparing necessary materials.
- Supports students in achieving academic goals and promoting independence.
- Assists with implementing assistive technology and augmentative communication devices.
- Compiles, maintains, and files reports and records, ensuring confidentiality.
- Participates in staff development and professional growth.
- Coordinates and assists with student transitions between classes.
- Provides support for students with special health care needs.
- Attends and completes specialized training for students with severe to profound learning disabilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and successful instructional delivery methods.
- Ability to protect confidential information and maintain a positive disposition.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively.
- Ability to motivate students and recognize diverse backgrounds, abilities, and exceptionalities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide support in various settings.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with individuals with special needs.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- If Title I school: Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education, or two years of work experience in an early childhood setting.
- Certification and License: Maintain a Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification.
Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and successful instructional delivery methods.

$18.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
