FLSA Classification: Non-exempt, hourly employee. 181 work days (days when students are scheduled to attend school), 7 hours per day (excluding a 30-minute unpaid duty-free meal break). Work year runs from the first day students report in August through the last day students report in May or June.
Pay
- Starting hourly rate: $16.05
- Paid on the "Instructional Assistant" salary schedule

About the Role
The Short Term Removal (STR) Supervisor provides support in an educational environment by supervising students. This role requires a proactive disposition, including walking hallways, checking restrooms during passing periods and class periods, and monitoring all other areas of the building as requested or assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provides high-level customer service with a focus on safety when interacting with staff, students, families, and community members on school campuses
- Ensures students assigned to STR complete assignments provided by teachers
- Monitors students in the STR classroom, throughout the building, and around campus to ensure compliance with school rules and safe, appropriate behavior
- Supervises and corrects student behavior in hallways during passing periods and class periods
- Inspects bathrooms immediately following passing periods to ensure students are not lingering
- Assists teachers and administrators in handling student behavior problems
- Performs related duties as directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or designee
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Associate degree or higher, or at least sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited institution of higher education (preferred; official transcripts required for validation)
- Previous work experience with school-age children (preferred)
- Must meet requirements of a paraprofessional as outlined in ESSA: associate degree, two years of college, or passing the ParaPro Assessment (offered at no cost by Highlander Park for prospective employees)
- Must pass an Expanded Criminal History Check and Expanded Child Protection Index Check
- Ability to perform essential functions, meet performance aptitudes, and fulfill physical/sensory/environmental requirements of the job (with or without reasonable accommodations)

Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Physical Requirements: Ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, including several hours of walking, interacting with students in crowded hallways, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects/materials up to 20 pounds
