Instructional Assistant/Paraeducator - Overlake Specialty School

About the role

The Overlake Specialty School is a year-round school serving the special needs of students in elementary through high school. Each student brings unique life experiences, dispositions, and learning histories. This role involves assisting special needs students in a classroom setting, developing and delivering Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and working closely with classroom teachers to supervise classroom activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and delivery of IEPs
• Work closely with classroom teachers to supervise classroom activities
• Supervise students in a therapeutic environment
• Provide assistance to special needs students

Qualifications

• High school graduate
• Meet Washington State paraprofessional guidelines (2 years of college credit)
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or Mental Health field preferred
• Previous experience working with behaviorally disturbed, mentally ill, and/or children with learning disabilities preferred
• Previous experience in intensive psychiatric treatment facilities or school systems helpful

Pay

The pay range for this position is $29.51 to $31.46 per hour, with additional pay based on shift, certification, or level of education. Job offers are determined based on years of relevant experience and internal equity.
