This position is part of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Collective Bargaining Agreement transfer process and will first be posted internally for five workdays, closing on Thursday, August 20th, 2026. If no internal candidates are selected, it will then be open to both internal and external applicants for one week.

Schedule

  • Instructional Assistant: 183-day working calendar
  • Para Educator: 180-day working calendar
  • 3.75 total hours per day (1 hour as Para Educator and 2.75 hours as Instructional Assistant)
  • Shift: To be determined; subject to change

Rosa Parks Elementary (Redmond Learning Community)

Pay

  • Instructional Assistant: $27.71/hour (eligible for membership in Service International Employees Union No. 925)
  • Para Educator: $30.79/hour (eligible for membership in Teamsters Local Union No. 763, part of Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763)

Responsibilities

Instructional Assistant

  • Assist teaching staff with instructional tasks and maintain an orderly classroom to provide a positive learning environment
  • May be assigned to classroom, lunchroom, library, before or after school academic programs, or office
  • At elementary level, includes crossing guard and playground duties
  • May work with an individual student or the entire classroom

Para Educator

  • Assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students with physical, behavioral, or medical needs
  • Support students' special health care needs and help develop daily living and behavioral skills
  • Assist with classroom preparation, equipment, and supply management
  • May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classrooms, playgrounds, or during bus loading/unloading

Requirements

  • Must hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher, or
  • Have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, or
  • Passed the Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher, or
  • Passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher
  • Official documentation will be required upon hire
  • Must pass a criminal background check
