Instructional Assistant - Mackey MS.

9-month position, 6.5 hours per day, supporting Middle School Physical Education at MACKEY, JO MS in North Las Vegas.

Responsibilities

• Assist the certified physical education teacher in delivering the instructional program.
• Supervise students during PE activities, ensuring safety and proper use of equipment.
• Help set up and take down equipment for class activities and sports.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school and classroom rules.
• Assist with record-keeping, such as attendance and student progress notes.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with the organization and supervision of school-sponsored athletic events.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Sixty (60) semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited college or university, OR
  • Associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university, OR
  • Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or equivalent exam approved by the Nevada Department of Education.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in physical activities for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of physical education activities, sports, and safety procedures.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CPR and First Aid certification (provided by the district if not already certified).

Schedule

• 9-month school year (typically August through May).
• 6.5-hour workday.
• Standard day shift.
