9-month position, 5 hours per day. Primary program: Resource. Primary work location: Mackey, Jo ES (North Las Vegas).

About the Role

This position provides instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in a resource setting under the direction of a licensed special education teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment.
• Assist with classroom management and behavior intervention strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support student success.
• Monitor and document student progress as required.
• Perform clerical duties such as preparing materials, grading assignments, and maintaining records.
• Assist students with personal care needs as necessary (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Supervise students during transitions, meals, and other non-instructional times.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum of 48 college credits OR passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (or equivalent).
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
• Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to lift, position, and assist students with disabilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
• Experience with behavior management techniques or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
