About the role

Elementary Instructional Assistant – Calendar 18A (9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week). Part-time position at Whitney Ave Elementary School.

Responsibilities

• Run small groups of students
• Assist students in large-group settings in both Special Day Class and General Education environments
• Support the teacher’s instructional and classroom needs
• Work with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs

Qualifications

• Any combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties
• For some programs: possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license

Requirements

Must pre-qualify by attaching one of the following:

• [A] Passing score from SJUSD’s Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current; no other district’s exam accepted)
• [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
• [C] Official transcripts demonstrating completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units)
• [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher)

Foreign degrees/transcripts must be evaluated for equivalency to a U.S. accredited degree.

Pay

$19.51 – $25.69 per hour (CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule)

Schedule

6-hour workday; 5 days per week during the 9-month school year.
