About the role

Permanent, part-time position at Whitney Ave Elementary School. Salary follows the CSEA General Unit schedule for Elementary Instructional Assistant (Calendar 18A), ranging from $19.51 to $25.69 per hour, for 9 months/year (206 days/year, 5 days/week). Daily schedule is 6 hours.

Responsibilities

• Run small instructional groups and assist students in large-group settings in both Special Day Class and General Education environments.
• Support the teacher’s instructional and classroom-management needs.
• Work with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs.

Qualifications

• Any combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
• For some programs, possession of—or willingness and ability to obtain within 30 days of hire—a valid California Class C Driver License before operating any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.

Requirements

Applicants must pre-qualify by attaching one of the following:

• [A] Passing score from SJUSD’s Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to present). No other district’s proficiency exam accepted. Schedule at the district’s pre-employment test portal.
• [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
• [C] Official transcripts showing completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units).
• [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher). Foreign degrees/transcripts must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
