INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT I **REPOST**
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide instructional support to students with emotional disabilities, autism, and/or mental health needs. Responsibilities include assisting and instructing a variety of subjects such as high school reading, writing, and mathematics.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, autism, and/or mental health needs.
- Experience assisting and instructing a variety of subjects including, but not limited to high school reading, writing and mathematics.
- Experience in a behavioral background and understanding of behavioral management.
- A Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) certification is preferred.
Special Requirements
- Title I of the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act requires that paraprofessionals working as Instructional Assistants meet at least one of the criteria prior to an offer of employment:
- Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education.
- Possession of an Associate of Arts degree.
- Demonstrate through a formal state or local assessment process, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics.
