About the role
The Instructional Assistant (IA) supports classroom teachers in various activities and creates a safe, supportive environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Aids teachers in planning and organizing lessons
- Evaluates instructional activities and prepares necessary materials
- Assists with vision and hearing screenings
- Maintains a positive disposition and exercises good judgment
- Participates in staff development programs
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps
- Ability to recognize and support diverse student backgrounds
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work in a team environment and motivate students
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- If Title I school: Six documented semester hours of childhood education coursework or two years of work experience in a childhood setting
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (dependent on school need)
Skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Google Apps
- Effective instructional delivery methods
- Understanding of core subjects at the grade level of employment
- Ability to recognize and support diverse student backgrounds and learning styles
- Communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to implement academic and behavioral interventions
