About the role
The Instructional Assistant (IA) supports classroom teachers in various activities and creates a safe, healthy, and encouraging environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Aids teachers in planning and organizing lessons.
- Evaluates instructional activities and develops classroom procedures.
- Prepares necessary materials for students according to lesson plans.
- Assists with vision and hearing screenings, entering results into EASi.
- Maintains a positive disposition and remains calm during interactions with students.
- Participates in district staff development programs and professional growth.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- If employed in a Title I school, meet ESSA employment requirements and have relevant coursework or work experience.
- Hold and maintain a Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (position-dependent).
- Possess CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
- Working knowledge of core subjects at the grade level of employment.
- Ability to recognize and support diverse student backgrounds and learning styles.
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively.
- Ability to motivate students and implement academic and behavioral interventions.
