Instructional Assistant

About the role

The successful applicant will assist teachers in classroom activities, work with students individually or in small groups, escort students to various activities, and monitor students during assigned periods.

Responsibilities

• Aid in preparing and performing specific activities as directed by teachers.
• Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups as assigned and monitored by teachers.
• Escort students to various activities as assigned by teachers or administrators.
• Plan with students, under the direction of teachers, for various class activities.
• Assist teachers in modifying student behavior.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students.

Requirements

• Must have completed the ParaPro Assessment or have two years of college education.
• Must complete the Autism Spectrum Disorder for Paraprofessionals course online.
• Must possess the ability to represent the school division with high standards and ethics.
• Must be able to exert moderate physical effort, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, pulling, pushing, and carrying objects and materials of moderate weight.

Pay

Salary range: Commensurate with experience, $24,784 - $36,539; 10-month, 185 contract days.
