Instructional Assistant
About the role
The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence (SWCE) and the River Run Academy seek an enthusiastic and dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our dynamic team. This position offers the opportunity to educate and support students with cognitive impairments and concurrent behavioral, mental health, and medical issues.
Responsibilities
- Create a safe and therapeutic community for students
- Support students in developing effective coping strategies
- Help students discover their strengths and develop life skills such as cooking, banking, vocational skills, and more
- Provide enriching academic assistance for teachers and students in a Special Education setting
- Work with students to build a sense of self and prepare them for their next steps
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- A ParaPro, Associates Degree, or Bachelor's Degree is required
- Special Education or Mental Health setting experience is preferred
- Maintain a valid driver's license due to transportation requirements
- Available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
- Must be able to provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations

Pay and Schedule
The pay range for this position is $21.00 to $25.00 per hour. The actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and qualifications.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Qualifications
Must maintain a valid driver's license and pass background and driving record checks.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations, and a positive attitude are essential.
