Instructional Assistant

About the Role
Staff members in this position provide assistance to the classroom teacher and facilitate pupil instruction. The assistant works to provide necessary instruction, training, services, and individual attention to pupils. The role is monitored by the teacher in charge of the class, who, with their supervisor, reviews the work through observation and conferences.
Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to students in education classrooms in completing tasks assigned by teachers
- Assists the teacher in observing, recording, and charting behavior
- Supervises children in the hallway, lunchroom, and playground
- Observes behavior and carries out behavior management activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with teacher qualification is preferred, but not required
- OR a minimum of two years of college in the education field
- OR High school diploma with three years of experience working in an education-related field
- Must be able to pass all required background checks

About Our School Community
American Paradigm Schools are Caring School Communities. Relationships are the foundation of classroom and school life and underpin teaching, learning, and prosocial development. Building relationships and fostering students' sense of community are critical parts of our work at APS.
We have partnered with the Collaborative Classroom to implement the Caring School Community Model in all of our schools. This model builds positive classroom and schoolwide communities while developing students' social and emotional learning (SEL) skills and competencies.
