About the role

The campus Title I Instructional Aide assists school staff with accelerated student instruction in such a way to facilitate the achievement of the school’s goals.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, Valid Texas Instructional Aide Certificate or ability to obtain upon hire. Must meet 1 of the 2 following criteria: Associate's degree, OR 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Skills

  • Ability to work well with children, parents, and school staff
  • Ability to use/learn basic computer applications
  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English
  • Ability to speak Spanish (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional activities as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly work environment
  • Assist in supervising students throughout the school day as needed
  • Assist in the maintenance of administrative records and preparation of reports as required
  • Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment as assigned
  • Assist in preparing materials/displays for instruction or campus operations
  • Participate in staff development programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Equipment Used

Regular use of complex machines and equipment such as desktop/laptop computer and software, presentation equipment, copy machines, etc. Intermediate skill in Data Entry, Database, Presentation, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing, Google suite of applications, and video conferencing technology.

Physical / Environmental Factors

Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner. Observe all safety precautions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
