Instructional Aide (Special Education) - School Program

Job Summary

Assists with the planning and implementation of school activities for children.

Responsibilities

• Creates opportunities for enhancing student skills.
• Plans and implements activities that are consistent with student abilities, interests and educational plans.
• Affords support for school inclusion, inclusion in alternate school settings, the development of appropriate curriculum, workshop/life skills, speech and language, art, music, and adaptive physical education.
• Provides staff in-services.
• Maintains data and other records according to protocol.
• Acts as substitute in absence of the teacher.
• Encourages student independence in communication, decision making and other activities.
• Displays enthusiasm and appropriate energy level to maintain students motivation, cooperation, and participation.
• Plans and implements activities that are consistent with student abilities, interests, and educational plans.
• Participates in arrival and dismissal practices.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree required.
• Work Experience: 2 years experience working with children with disabilities preferred.
