About the role
This instructional support position is located at a partial hospitalization outpatient hospital in a non-traditional educational setting in Shenandoah, Texas. This 194 days (traditional school calendar) position is from August 1st to May 31. The salary will be spread over 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision in the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers when needed.
- Aid in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Implement approved behavior management and intervention strategies, including restraints, as required.
- Collect and maintain student data, administrative records, and prepare required reports.
- Assist with assessments as assigned.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- Tutor students as assigned.
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
Requirements
- Level III Educational Aide certification or willingness to complete within the first 90 days of employment.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- A copy of high school diploma and official college transcripts from each college attended will be required upon employment.
- Ability to work well with children.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- General knowledge of office equipment.
