About the role
Envision Education seeks Instructional Aides to provide support for students with learning or behavioral needs in our full-inclusion Special Education programs. Positions are available at Impact Academy Middle Grades (Grades 6-8) and Impact Academy High School (Grades 9-12).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Learning Specialists and general education teachers to support students with learning or behavioral needs.
- Implement intervention plans or processes to provide service and support to students to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals or intervention plan goals.
- Organize special education files, student learning records, and maintain on-line IEPs.
- Assist with screening or assessments under supervision of Learning Specialists, including formal documentation, preparing materials, and performing clerical support.
- Document student progress towards meeting established objectives.
- Communicate with Learning Specialists regarding implementation of intervention strategies, IEP services, or compliance.
- Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures in instructional settings.
- Understand and communicate Envision Schools' mission, goals, standards, policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, operating instructions, values, and the Special Education program.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Commitment to Envision Education's mission and vision.
- Knowledge of adolescent growth, development, and behavior characteristics; concepts of cognitive development and different learning styles.
- Ability and willingness to support every student with learning needs and to implement students' IEPs or behavior support plans.
- Ability to assist students in various subject areas.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents, and community.
- Solid technology skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, or other database programs, and Internet search.
- Desire to work and learn as part of an innovative special education and school team.
- Prior experience working with secondary students with learning needs and a diverse student body.
