Provides highly complex analytical, operational, and technical support at the business/department level within Global Capital Markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and produce complex ad-hoc and automated departmental reports and spreadsheets, including project or product strategy analysis, profitability, historical reporting, workflow, and financial analysis in support of the Global Capital Markets business.
- Research and gather business and financial information regarding business results to support these activities.
- Complete moderately complex analyses to support business decisions; provide feedback to management regarding results and make recommendations.
- Demonstrate a thorough and expert understanding of the Global Capital Markets business, its functions, processes, and operations; remain current on business and market trends that may affect the business/department.
- Manage the planning, developing, and implementing of various projects and initiatives within Global Capital Markets to achieve short and long-term business objectives; develop project plans ensuring activities, estimated timeframes, and effort are covered; manage daily project activities.
- May be involved in setting policy or developing and overseeing the implementation of procedures or controls related to compliance requirements, monitoring functions, developing training, completing compliance self-testing, or managing regulatory examinations and corrective actions.
- Manage budget, profitability, and other business reporting; analyze variances and report to management; make recommendations on variances and methods to increase efficiency or lower costs; implement recommendations upon management approval.
- Define and participate in the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
- Understand and adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and issues raised by external regulators.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities
The position requires substantial interaction with internal and external contacts to obtain pertinent information and serves as a liaison between the department and other business units on various projects. The jobholder works independently under very limited supervision as well as a member or a project leader of a project team. The position serves as a resource for less experienced employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field.
- Highly skilled proficiency in the use of pertinent spreadsheets, graphing, and presentation software.
- Working knowledge of financial models.
- Excellent knowledge of pertinent operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ banking or other relevant industry experience.
- Ability to work independently and function as a member of a project team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical ability.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function as a project leader.
Pay
$94,400.00 - $157,400.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
