Institutional Sales Leader (OCIO & Outsourced Investment Solutions) – North American Institutional Team
About the role
SEI, a leading provider of institutional fiduciary management and OCIO solutions globally, is seeking a senior Institutional Sales Leader to drive growth across its OCIO and broader institutional investment solutions platform. This is a management role responsible for both direct sales execution and team leadership, focused on expanding SEI’s presence among large institutional investors across the United States, including Endowments, Foundations, Healthcare Systems, Defined Benefit Plans, and Taft-Hartley Plans. This position reports to the Head of North American Institutional and is a key member of the North American Institutional Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
- Lead new business development efforts, originating and closing institutional mandates across OCIO and non-OCIO offerings (e.g., advisory, implementation, asset management solutions)
- Build and deepen relationships with CIOs, investment committees, boards, and senior executives
- Execute complex, consultative sales processes, including RFPs, finalist presentations, and board-level decision cycles
- Develop tailored value propositions aligned to client governance models, investment objectives, and long-term missions
- Serve as a senior mentor and coach to a team of institutional sales professionals, providing guidance on pipeline strategy, deal execution, and client engagement
- Partner with leadership to set sales strategy, coverage models, and go-to-market priorities
- Act as a thought leader within the team, sharing best practices and elevating overall sales effectiveness
- Support talent development, including onboarding, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback
- Work cross-functionally with investment, portfolio management, consultant relations, marketing, and client service teams
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to position SEI’s full suite of capabilities, including custom OCIO, open architecture implementation, and specialized investment solutions
- Engage effectively with OCIO search consultants, understanding their influence on buyer criteria, process timelines, and selection outcomes
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of institutional asset management experience, with a significant focus on business development and sales leadership
- Demonstrated success selling OCIO/fiduciary management and/or institutional investment solutions
- Proven track record of originating and closing large, complex mandates with sophisticated institutional clients
- Experience operating in a player/coach capacity, leading teams while maintaining an individual production goal
- Deep relationships within the Endowment & Foundation and broader institutional marketplace
- Extensive experience engaging with: Investment committees and boards Internal investment teams and CIOs OCIO search consultants and intermediaries
- Strong understanding of consultative sales methodologies and long-cycle institutional sales processes
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CFA preferred
