Position Description Performs specialized analytical duties for the Department of Institutional Research. Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and developing data. Makes recommendations and assists in the implementation of projects. Work performed under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures. Major/Essential Functions Leads comprehensive data validation and certification processes for high-impact institutional, state, and federal reports. Serves as a primary liaison with data owners, IT, and functional offices to resolve complex data integrity issues and improve upstream data quality. Designs and oversees advanced SQL frameworks, reporting pipelines, and automated validation processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Develops high-level dashboards, executive reports, and analytical visualizations that inform strategic decision-making. Provides authoritative interpretation of THECB, IPEDS, and other external reporting requirements; ensures institutional alignment with evolving standards. Oversees preparation, review, and submission of major state and federal reports; validates final submissions prior to certification. Conducts advanced longitudinal, predictive, and comparative analyses to support planning, accreditation, and accountability initiatives. Mentors and provides technical guidance to Analyst I and II staff; contributes to training and process improvement efforts. Leads or contributes to data governance initiatives, including documentation standards, data definitions, and compliance practices. Communicates complex analytical findings and institutional implications to senior leadership and external stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field plus four years of progressively responsible related experience, and/or a combination of education and experience to equal eight years. Graduate degree(s) may be considered as qualifying for the related experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications Experience utilizing advanced SQL. Knowledge of institutional data systems, data warehousing, and reporting architectures. Knowledge in data visualization, storytelling, and executive-level reporting. Deep knowledge of FERPA, data governance frameworks, and higher education reporting regulations.
