About the role
HouseSmart’s Installer III works to assist the Crew Chief and team with efficient setup of homes daily. This role is an essential part of the setup process and is responsible for owning numerous construction tasks independently, often helping train and support other team members.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Crew Chief and team on daily tasks at the manufactured home site—planning what needs to be done and assigning responsibilities.
- Assist with ever-changing daily projects, including prepping and cleaning the jobsite, basic masonry work, leveling the home, installing door bars and supports, electrical and plumbing crossovers, removing tires, axles, and tongues, and other hands-on construction tasks.
- Help train new hires on daily responsibilities and safe job practices.
- Safely learn to operate and eventually lead the operation of specialty heavy equipment.
- Learn to own roofing responsibilities, including installing hingers, flashing, shingles, and ridge caps.
- Assist the Crew Chief with quality and accuracy checks, ensuring trucks, loads, and equipment are organized and tied down securely for safety before operation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of residential, commercial, or industrial construction experience.
- Enjoy working with your hands and outdoors.
- Desire to learn and grow your career.
- Experience coaching or helping others learn a trade.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as a skid-steer, tractor, backhoe, or front-end loader; willingness to operate specialized heavy equipment.
- Comfortable working at heights (using/safely climbing a ladder), in crawl spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively on construction projects.
- Commitment to quality and teamwork to complete projects.
