About the role
Responsible for the complete and satisfactory installation of residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolve problems, and ensure complete satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Trains other installers, performs complex installations, and assists the Field Supervisor or General Manager with work audits, site supervision, and planning.
Responsibilities
- Install HVAC equipment and accessories in accordance with company requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Perform limited diagnostics as needed
- Design, fabricate, and install various ducts and duct fittings
- Perform start-ups on air conditioning, heating systems, and other components
- Deliver excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction
- Promote products and services to customers and generate replacement product sales leads
- Ensure proper delivery and removal of equipment needed for installations
- Maintain company property, vehicles, and tools in proper condition
- Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner; collect payment from customers
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically
- Maintain a clean and neat installation vehicle to uphold the company’s professional image
- Follow standard procedures, manage vehicle stock, and handle warranty parts
- Assist the Field Supervisor or General Manager with site supervision, planning, estimating, and quality audits
- Train other installers in technical skills and company procedures
- Perform other similar duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with additional training and 1–2+ years’ experience in HVAC technical training certification
- All valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws for the geographical work area
- EPA and safety certifications required
- Proficient in the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and related accessories
- Advanced skills in installing HVAC equipment and related accessories
- Proficient in layout and installation requirements of ductwork and duct fittings
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment
- Advanced skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
- Proficient in starting up and balancing airflow, aligning belts and pulleys with little to no supervision
- Advanced skills in installing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision
- Ability to calculate heat gain and loss on buildings using approved methods
- Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, congested areas)
- Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt
- Natural or corrected vision for close, distance, and peripheral tasks with normal depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Minimum 4+ years of experience
