Overview

The Installation and Repair Technician will be responsible for repairing, installing, modifying, and upgrading companies' telecommunication systems and related equipment. Responsibilities

  • Upgrade and maintain companies' current telecommunications systems.
  • Evaluate customers' needs and install telecommunications systems that best meet those needs.
  • Run routine tests on telecommunications systems to ensure all components are functioning at optimal levels.
  • Perform diagnostic testing on problematic telecommunications systems to identify and resolve various technical faults.
  • Check all wiring work to ensure it looks professional.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels on the truck to meet customers’ needs.
  • Investigate and resolve customers' complaints in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of experience in the telecommunications field preferred.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, email, and database software.
  • Ability to pass a background check and a drug test (including marijuana) prior to employment.
  • Physical ability to stand for most of the time, walk or work over all types of terrain and weather, and lift up to 90 pounds.
  • Capability to carry tools and equipment, including ladders and tool belts; operate an extension ladder (≈28 ft, 75 lb).
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, elevated places (roofs, utility poles), and poorly ventilated areas such as attics.
  • Skill in using hand tools (drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers) and handling small components.
  • Good visual acuity, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to move, crawl, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, push, and grasp.
  • Comfort working in environments with dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions, and near power lines/electrical equipment.
  • Safe operation of company vehicles.
  • Ability to meet the physical limits of personal protective equipment, aerial lift equipment, ladders, and/or gaffs used in this position.
