Inspector, University Police
About the role
The Inspector conducts, supervises, and manages investigations of campus-related criminal misconduct and/or violations of campus policy. The role ensures complete, accurate, and thorough investigations using current technology, recognized best practices, proper evidence collection, analysis, security, storage, and disposal to maintain case integrity and provide victim resources. The Inspector also assists with records management, reporting and recording systems, department technology, training, and Clery compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee investigations utilizing current technology, best practices, evidence collection, analysis, security, storage, and disposal to ensure case integrity and appropriate victim resources.
- Assist with records management, reporting and recording systems, department technology, training, and Clery compliance.
- Analyze data to identify crime trends or crime-sensitive locations in collaboration with University Police administration.
- Serve as a liaison with law enforcement partners, the Title IX Coordinator, and the District Attorney’s Office.
- Supervise department members regarding investigations, community policing, crime prevention, specialized units, and emergency situations.
- Perform specialized assignments as directed by the Chief of Police to fulfill the department’s mission.
- In the absence of the Chief, serve as the highest-ranking member of the department and oversee overall operations.
