Inspector Packer II

Manually inspects completed plastics parts and packs them into boxes for shipping. Seals boxes, prints labels, and stacks full boxes on pallets. May operate machines and train Inspector/Packer I’s. Operates in a safe manner and keeps work area clean and organized.

Responsibilities

  • In-process inspection: Frequent examination of the visual attributes of each product (discoloration, shorts, burns, contamination, sinks, splay, delamination, etc.).
  • Records data: Document any information regarding the product or performance of duties as required by management.
  • Packing: Transfer product from catch bins or boxes into shipping containers, transport to shipping area, weigh, complete and affix correct labels using SAP, prepare and supply boxes to molding presses, and stack finished product on pallets.
  • Maintains work area: Keep production and packing area clean by sweeping floors, picking up stray molded parts, removing dust, dirt, grease or oil from molding presses, and cleaning up spills or leaks.
  • Operates machines: Occasionally operate manually operated molding presses, including removing molded product and/or runners, packing product in bags, boxes, or trays, and placing inserts into molds. Perform secondary operations such as reaming, trimming, facing, and hot stamping.
  • Sorts and reworks: Sort and/or rework non-conforming product, document and label it properly, and sample or gauge reject product as required.
  • Fosters teamwork: Develop and maintain good working relationships with all departments.
  • Completes all required training as assigned.
  • Conducts all job functions in a safe manner and complies with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Uses appropriate safety equipment as required.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Average or better math skills.
  • Ability to spend long hours walking and standing.
  • Good color perception and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels.
  • Able to work in an orderly, logical manner while paying attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SAP, and email skills preferred.
