Inspector NDE II

About the Role

The Inspector NDE II (RT) performs inspections with supervision and mentoring. Qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and interpret and evaluate results according to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Responsible for organizing and reporting results, exercising assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of trainees and Level I personnel.

This is a second shift position focused on ensuring the highest quality products for customers by inspecting components, assemblies, and related paperwork to ensure compliance with contract specifications and preventing non-conforming or rejected products from being shipped.

Responsibilities

• Utilize drawings and specifications to develop plans for basic manual inspections.
• Evaluate parts to ensure they meet specified requirements per inspection plans.
• Complete inspection steps on routers to indicate pass/fail and note time for traceability.
• Perform dimensional inspections on precision machined products and assemblies unassisted.
• Follow oral and written instructions, and read blueprints and work instructions accurately.
• Provide instruction and guidance to assisting employees and participate in training welders and other department employees of lesser classification.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor.
• Maintain knowledge of proper inspection techniques to obtain accurate results.

• Work may require use of scaffold, ladders, forklift, and/or scissor lift.
• Maintain a clean work area with no clutter.

Requirements

• Technical Trades School in Welding or Inspection.
• High school diploma or GED.
• NDT Level II Certification in RT per ASNT SNT-TC-1A.
• NDT Experience in RT with required hours (840).
• NDT Training with required hours (80).
• NDT Experience in total hours (1600), verifiable per ASNT SNT-TC-1A.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Local travel may be required.

Physical and Mental Demands

Physical demands: While performing duties, the incumbent is primarily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. Must speak and communicate clearly, with corrected vision to 20/20 or adequate, and ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Mental demands: Required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans and goals, present information, and work under pressure.

Work Environment

Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes, high noise levels, exposure to hazardous materials, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
