Inspector II - Electrical Solutions
About the Role
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit enables efficient business and program execution through strategic capital investments, industrial operations, supply chain management, manufacturing, test operations, and facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Perform Printed Wiring Board/Assembly Inspections, including soldering, staking, and conformal coat using a microscope.
- Complete inspections on Cable/Wire Harness Assemblies.
- Inspect per IPC Certifications: IPC J-STD-001 with Space Addendum (Soldering for Operators & Inspectors), IPC-A-610 (Assembly of Electronic Assemblies), and IPC/WHMA-A620 (Requirements for Cable & Wire Harness Assemblies).
- Work with Highly Sensitive Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive devices/hardware.
- Maintain working knowledge of BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Process Library.
- Perform basic dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, etc.
- Create and maintain First Article Inspection Reports as required.
- Support Government and/or Customer internal and Source Inspections.
- Inspect incoming or production hardware, assemblies, or articles for conformance to engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, process standards, and production or process plans.
- Perform incoming test of components and monitor for conformance to design or test specifications or standards.
- Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
- Refer/document unusual inspection problems or defect trends to supervision, Lead, or Quality Engineer.
- Apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria from engineering drawings, specifications, or process certification training.
- Witness or monitor functional/performance testing at sub-assembly and/or end-item level.
- Support test inspections and functions such as box-level integration inspections, ESTE/GSE certifications, vibration testing, thermal testing, TVAC testing, PWA testing, test troubleshooting, rack configuration changes, mate/demate of test connector interfaces, and setup, execution, and review of various test procedures.
- Obtain and maintain all certifications required for assigned tasks.
- Troubleshoot inspection problems related to fixtures, drawings, documentation, or processes.
- Perform Final Inspection and review documentation required for end-item shipments.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position requiring regular in-person engagement five days per week at the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 or more years of related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree (e.g., Bachelor’s or Master’s) may substitute for years of related experience. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
- Willingness to relocate permanently to different local company campuses to support business needs.
Preferred certifications: IPC J-STD-001 with Space Addendum (CIS), IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A620.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $47,614 - $76,181. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
