Inspector

About the role

RK&K is hiring an experienced Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in and around Asheville, NC. The Construction Inspector will conduct field inspections for a wide range of Transportation, Highways and Structural construction projects in the heavy civil industry. Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are being used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions
• Multitask management of project assignments
• Conduct field inspections
• Use mobile devices to document work - as required in North Carolina
• Review drawings to prepare for the inspection
• Understand the design of the construction that will be inspected
• Document the results of the inspection and communicate to the supervisor
• Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
• Inspect work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right-of-way issue resolution

Requirements

• At least two (2) years of roadway inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specifications
• Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
