Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of construction activities, materials, and workmanship to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and standards.
- Monitor contractor performance and report any deviations or non-conformances.
- Review daily inspection reports, safety and quality checklists, time and material certifications and verify their accuracy and completeness.
- Support the implementation of the project’s Quality Management Plan and related procedures.
- Review and maintain systematic records of all testing, inspection, acceptance activities, and outstanding punch list items.
- Document nonconforming work, verify completion of corrective actions, and monitor resolution of quality issues.
- Coverage of materials testing required under project contracts, including off-site lab testing performed by independent testing organizations.
- Ensure all materials used in construction meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports, including daily, monthly, and quarterly summaries as required.
- Communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to resident engineers, contractors, and project management.
- Participate in meetings and technical briefings related to inspection and quality assurance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in inspection, quality assurance, or construction management on large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects.
- Experience with federally funded projects and regulatory compliance is preferred.
- Familiarity with document control, materials testing, and quality management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic project management software.
- Clear and concise report writing.
- Knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, inspection procedures, and quality assurance processes.
- Experience in shaft construction and tunneling operations a plus.
Pay
The estimated starting salary for this position is $150k. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
