Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Inspect construction activities to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
- Observe and document construction of pipelines, pump stations, tanks, dams, levees, and groundwater wells.
- Monitor contractor work practices related to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Verify materials, workmanship, line and grade, testing, and installed quantities.
- Perform daily site observations and prepare accurate daily inspection reports.
- Coincide with construction managers, office engineers, contractors, and designers to resolve field issues.
- Witness testing and inspections including pressure testing, concrete placement, compaction, and system startup activities.
- Identify and document non-conforming work and follow through on corrective actions.
- Assist with punch-list development, as-built verification, and project closeout documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or technical training preferred).
- Minimum 2–5 years of field inspection or construction experience on heavy civil construction projects.
- Experience with infrastructure construction such as pipelines, pump stations, tanks, dams, levees, or wells.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection practices.
- Strong written communication skills for field documentation and reporting.
- Familiarity with construction management or inspection reporting software.
- Ability to take and pass all GEI required construction safety related training courses.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related engineering degree or comprehensive equivalent field experience.
- Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) certification in California.
- Registered Certified Construction Manager In-Training (CMIT) through Construction Management Association of America.
- Certifications in construction inspection, materials testing, or safety (e.g., ACI, AWS, NACE, QSP/QSD).
