Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Monitor and verify that all construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Perform quality assurance and exercise the 'right to witness' testing of work under Project Contracts during active construction.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports of all inspections and testing conducted, including findings, observations, and any non-conformances identified.
- Cookordinate with the Special Inspection Testing Agency and Project Contractors to schedule and facilitate inspections and testing.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
- Identify and report any issues of non-compliance or safety concerns to the Quality Manager and relevant project stakeholders.
- Participate in regular field meetings and collaborate with project teams to resolve technical issues and support project delivery.
- Ensure that all inspection activities are conducted in accordance with the Hudson Tunnel Project Quality Management Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support the implementation of quality control and quality acceptance programs as required by the project.
- Assist in periodic audits to ensure compliance with project requirements and federal regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection, preferably on large infrastructure or transportation projects.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, local building codes).
- Experience with quality assurance/quality control procedures and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformances.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using inspection and reporting software/tools.
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification preferred.
- Ability to work in field conditions, including active construction sites and tunnels.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
