Inspector Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Verify vehicle information based on work order; inspect all customer vehicles at time of receipt (interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment) to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems (e.g., frame/paint damage, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition).
• Prepare and complete all necessary documentation and electronic condition reports (ECR).
• Conduct OVE courtesy walk-around inspections.
• Set up system for day-end and perform day-end procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of company policies, procedures, system capabilities, job-relevant software packages, web-based applications, and improvements/changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, and inspection techniques.
• Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors; actively participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Requirements

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
• Generally, less than 2 years of experience.
• Valid driver’s license required; safe driving record needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, squat, or kneel; lift and hold at least 10 lbs at waist level for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong technical understanding and good organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.
• Advanced computer skills.

Work Environment

• Exposure to outdoor weather and inclement conditions (100% outdoors).
• Moderate noise level.
• May be exposed to fumes and odors.
• May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate.

Pay

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $13.70 - $20.53 per hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as location, candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation, including commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
