Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate dimensional and NDE inspection activities across the facility to support production and quality objectives
- Plan, schedule, and assign inspection tasks based on production priorities and staffing capabilities
- Ensure all NDE inspections (including PT, VT, and other qualified methods) are performed in accordance with approved procedures, applicable codes, and customer requirements
- Review, approve, and release inspection results, documentation, and quality records
- Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to evaluate non-conformances, resolve technical issues, and support corrective actions
- Provide technical guidance related to inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and inspection outcomes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes, efficiency, and accuracy
- Ensure inspection activities comply with internal quality systems and external regulatory requirements
- Supervise, mentor, train, and develop dimensional and NDE inspection personnel
- Ensure inspectors maintain required certifications, qualifications, and ongoing training (SNT‑TC‑1A, code updates, internal qualifications, etc.)
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development planning
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and qualification of new inspection personnel
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement within the inspection team
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training strongly preferred
- 3–5 years of nondestructive examination experience, with at least 1–2 years in a lead, supervisory, or mentoring role
- Working knowledge of dimensional inspection methods, tools, and GD&T principles (preferred)
- ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A Level II certification in PT and VT (required)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and applicable industry codes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and welding symbols
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams
- Dimensional inspection certifications or demonstrated proficiency (CMM, laser tracker, precision metrology)
- Experience in fabrication, machining, testing, or nuclear manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with digital inspection systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
