Inspection Operator

About the role

Sets up stations with the correct process inspection documents, screens, and/or workflow instructions. Performs in-process and online "go/no-go" inspections of various types of electronics, subassemblies, peripherals, or larger assemblies, identifying defects according to workmanship standards.

• Handles touch-up and repairs.
• Interprets manufacturing process instructions, visual aids/drawings (e.g., microscope and magnifying lenses).
• Scans product and enters information into the shop floor control system or manual tracking systems when applicable.
• Adjusts, trims, or otherwise processes materials or components found on product to achieve specified electrical requirements or dimensional characteristics.
• Collaborates and ensures communication of process problems to peers, supervisors/leads, and/or manufacturing support teams.
• Documents workload, calculating the number of products inspected and rejected.
• Creatively uses necessary materials to perform repairing operations.
• Uses machines, such as an Automatic Inspection machine, to detect defects.

Requirements

• Completion of a high school degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's, including using weight measurement and distance.
• Advanced soldering and inspection skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize blueprints.
• Advanced manufacturing line skills, which may be used to conduct on-the-job training and/or lead/guide other employees.
• Able to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• IPC certification.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to work that requires repetitive motion, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. May require overtime and 2nd or 3rd shift job assignments as needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
