About the role
Use your upholstery skills to build furniture people keep for generations. As an Inside Upholsterer at Stickley, you will build the inside of upholstered furniture, including seats, inside backs, and arms, ensuring each piece has the proper shape, comfort, fit, and finish before moving to the next stage of production.
Responsibilities
- Upholster the inside of fine custom furniture using fabric and leather
- Read production tickets and follow special instructions
- Apply cotton, rubber, and other materials to build the proper shape and comfort
- Stretch and apply fabric or leather smoothly and correctly
- Create short, uniform pleats
- Use standard upholstery tools such as staple guns, scissors, regulators, button needles, staple pullers, pliers, and tape measures
- Check your work to ensure the piece meets quality expectations
- Complete work according to the production schedule
- Scan completed pieces into the production process after approval
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in inside upholstery for custom or high-quality furniture preferred
- Experience working with fabric and leather
- Ability to read production tickets and follow detailed instructions
- Experience using common upholstery tools and equipment
- Good attention to detail and pride in your work
- Ability to produce consistent quality throughout the workday
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Hand-tufting or machine-tufting experience is a plus
