Inside Sales Representative - Utility
As a Representative in Inside Sales, you will interact with existing customers to increase sales of the Company's products and/or services. You will obtain, create, and up-sell orders, ensuring customer satisfaction and adding value to the customer’s buying experience. The role focuses on proactive selling techniques to expand the current book of accounts and collaborate with outside sales to meet goals.
Responsibilities
- Obtain orders through email and telephone calls, verify and enter items, transfer orders to fulfillment, and explain stock-outs or expected delivery dates.
- Increase orders by suggesting related items, explaining features, and reviewing customer buying history.
- Own, qualify, and develop opportunities passed from marketing, outside sales, and national accounts.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of processes.
- Prepare, generate, and follow up on verbal or written quotations to secure orders or determine reasons for lost orders.
- Review open customer order reports and take action on open items, including those at risk of missing promised delivery dates.
- Maintain distribution system backorder reports, customer expediting reports, and customer notifications.
- Report industry trends, competitive pricing, and customer feedback to management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in sales and sales administration, with a focus on acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to prospect and market concepts to existing and potential new accounts.
- Ability to solve a range of problems independently and choose among existing solutions.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Travel requirements: 0%–25%.
Pay
$23.42–$29.28 per hour. This amount reflects the reasonable range for the position, though final offers may vary based on factors such as geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or collective bargaining agreements. Eligible positions may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, with additional commission opportunities for sales roles based on performance.
