Inpatient Rehabilitation Psychologist - Full-Time

About the role

The Psychologist will conduct interviews, evaluations, and provide consultations and therapeutic interventions for patients, families, and groups. They will lead and facilitate psychoeducational groups and consult with treatment teams on psychological and neuropsychological factors affecting rehabilitation programs.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, families, and other personnel to gather comprehensive information about their personal, medical, psychiatric, substance use, and social histories.
• Conducts psychological and neuropsychological evaluations.
• Provides evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and relaxation training.
• Engages in capacity evaluations, behavioral management plans, and suicide assessments as needed.
• Co-treats with other allied health disciplines to support rehabilitation progress.
• Participates in discharge planning and follow-up services, including referrals for patients and families.
• Maintains accurate patient documentation according to organizational requirements.
• Supervises doctoral-level advanced practicum students and participates in post-doctoral fellowships in Rehabilitation Psychology.
• Provides professional presentations and participates in research activities.

Requirements

• Knowledge of psychological principles, inter-relational dynamics, individual and group behavior, and behavior modification techniques.
• Current eligibility for licensure by the State of Illinois.
• Completion of an accredited fellowship in rehabilitation psychology, health psychology, and/or clinical neuropsychology.
• Prior experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient rehabilitation setting.
• Ability to interpret growth and development related information to meet patient needs.
• Effective communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Analytical skills to select and interpret neuropsychological and/or psychological tests.
