About the role
The Inpatient Psychologist at Acclaim Health works on JPS’s inpatient psychiatric units and in the Main Hospital. They provide a broad range of comprehensive psychological services, including assessments, evaluations, psychoeducation, and consultations with interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Independently conducts assessments, evaluations, and psychoeducation on inpatient psychiatric units and in the Main Hospital.
- Works in consultation with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate accurate diagnosis, patient education, and treatment planning.
- Provides screening for cognitive deficits and makes referrals to appropriate services.
- Performs assessments to support decision-making regarding patients' abilities to make medical decisions, perform tasks, or live independently.
- Provides clinical supervision of psychology interns, practicum students, and psychiatry residents.
- Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings as requested.
- Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
- Provides brief interventions to psychiatrically ill patients as needed.
- Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff.
- Serves as a resource to the community and builds a positive brand and patient/customer experience for JPS Health Network.
Requirements
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Successful completion of a clinical or counseling psychology internship accredited by APA or APPIC.
- Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology in Texas or eligibility for Texas Board licensure.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program at the time of completion.
- Completion of a respecialization program meeting APA or APPIC accreditation standards.
- Specialization in a field consistent with the training needed to be an inpatient assessment psychologist.
- Dissertation primarily psychological in nature.
